Power Retractable Hard Top Test of the Month, by Rich Velardo

Club member Brad Neikirk, who works for Park Mazda in Akron, was kind enough to arrange

a show of the new Power Retractable Hard Top MX-5 for us. This is a very slick operating top,

flip the single locking lever at the windshield header and push the button. This top not only looks

great up or down but unlike every other folding hard top on the market folds into the same space

that the soft top uses. You will lose no trunk space with this top and only the two bins behind the

seats are lost. The weight penalty is only ~77 pounds and the cost begins at an MSRP of $24,945

vs $21,030 for the most basic MX-5 soft top. Such a deal, all of the original Miata goodness and

a retractable hard top too.
